Bible Verses for When You Feel Like Giving Up
Hey friend.
If you clicked this, I’m guessing today the tank is just empty. Not the dramatic kind of empty. The quiet kind. The “I don’t know how much longer I can keep doing this” kind.
Maybe it’s a situation that won’t budge. A prayer that keeps going unanswered. A body or a bank account or a heart that is just plain tired.
Before we open the Word, hear this. Wanting to give up does not make you weak or faithless. It makes you human. And God meets humans exactly here.
You might be closer than it feels
Marathon runners talk about “the wall.” It usually hits around mile 20, when the body is screaming to stop and quitting feels like the only option.
But here is the cruel, hopeful trick of the wall. It shows up near the END, not the beginning. The exhaustion is not proof you can’t finish. Sometimes it is proof you are closer to the finish than you think.
You don’t have to sprint, sis. You just have to not quit on the hard mile.

Galatians 6:9 says let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. The harvest has a timer on it, and the only way to miss it is to walk away right before it comes.
2 Corinthians 4:8-9 says we are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; struck down, but not destroyed. Pressed is real. Crushed is not your ending. There is a difference, and that difference is God.
Joshua 1:9 is God’s command and comfort in one: be strong and courageous, do not be afraid, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Even here. Even in this.
Philippians 4:13 reminds us we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. Not in your own grit, which is spent. In His, which never runs dry.
Psalm 34:17-18 promises the Lord hears the righteous and is close to the brokenhearted. Your tired prayers are not bouncing off the ceiling. He is near, and He is listening.
Deuteronomy 31:8 says the Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. You are not dragging yourself forward alone. He is already up ahead, holding the next mile.
What to do with the empty days
When giving up is whispering, you do not need a five-year plan. You need the next small faithful thing.
- Lower the bar to one next step. Just today. Just this hour, if you have to.
- Tell one safe person the truth about how tired you are. Carrying it alone makes it heavier.
- Pray the honest prayer, even if it is only “God, I can’t. Please carry this.”
And please, if the thought of giving up has become a thought of not wanting to be here, reach out right now. In the US you can call or text 988 anytime. You are worth staying for, and you are not a burden.
On the empty days, you were never meant to run on your own strength.

The Bible meets weariness with honesty and hope. Galatians 6:9 urges us not to give up before the harvest, and 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 says we may be hard pressed but are not crushed. God stays near the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18).
What is a good Bible verse for when you feel like quitting?
Galatians 6:9 is a strong anchor: do not grow weary in doing good, for you will reap a harvest if you do not give up. Philippians 4:13, that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, is another.
How do I keep going when I’m exhausted?
Lower the bar to the next small faithful step, tell a safe person the truth, and pray honestly even when it’s just “God, I can’t, please carry this.” Lean on His strength rather than your own, which is already spent.
