Bible Verses for Miscarriage: Comfort After Losing a Baby
Oh, sweet friend.
If you are here because you lost your baby, I am so sorry. I wish I could sit on the couch with you and just be quiet together for a while.
Miscarriage is one of the loneliest griefs there is. The world never got to meet your baby, so people do not always know to bring the casserole or send the card. But you knew. You had names picked out. You already loved that little one all the way.
So let me say the thing nobody may have said to you out loud. You are a mother, and that was your child, and this is a real loss worth grieving.
The grief that nobody can see
One of the hardest parts of this loss is how invisible it feels.
It is like being handed a bill for something nobody else can see you paying. Everyone around you keeps moving at regular speed, and you are standing in the rubble of a whole future you had already started dreaming.
If people have said clumsy things (“at least it was early,” “you can try again”), I am sorry. They are reaching for comfort and grabbing the wrong words. Your grief does not need to be justified to anyone. God already sees all of it.

Psalm 139:13-16 says God knit your baby together and saw them before a single day existed. However brief their life was, they were fully known and fully loved by their Maker. They were never a nobody.
2 Samuel 12:23 is David grieving his own child, saying, I will go to him one day. It is a quiet, powerful hope that this goodbye is not the end of the story for you and your little one.
Psalm 34:18 promises God is close to the brokenhearted. Not waiting for you to feel strong again. Close in the empty-nursery, why-me kind of ache.
Isaiah 66:13 is God saying He comforts us like a mother comforts her child. Picture the way you would have rocked your baby. That is how tenderly He wants to hold you right now.
Matthew 19:14 is Jesus saying, let the little children come to Me. Your baby is not lost in some waiting room. They are in the safest arms in all of heaven.
Revelation 21:4 promises a day with no more death and no more tears. One day every ache this loss carved into you gets wiped clean for good.
Grieving at your own pace
There is no timeline for this, friend. Some days you will feel almost okay, and then a due date or a baby shower invite knocks the wind right out of you.
That is not you going backward. That is just grief coming in waves, the way the ocean does. Let the wave come, let it pass, and know the next calm stretch is coming too.
You do not have to walk this valley by yourself.
